Job Description

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).

Applications are invited for a post-doc position in the group of Dr. Christoph Merten, using cutting-edge microfluidic technology in the biomedical field. In particular, we are looking for a candidate who will work on large-scale drug screens: Making use of microfluidic technology assays can be carried out at ultra high throughput (several hundred thousand compounds can be tested in a single experiment). Furthermore, the tiny assay volumes allow the use of human samples that are hardly available in big quantities (e.g. patient biopsies).

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for outstanding applicants holding a university degree in biotechnology, biology and/or microfluidics. Prior experience in large-scale data analysis and bioinformatics is advantageous, but not absolutely required.
