In the realm of the new project "Nanopumps", we study the function of novel bacterial ion pumps (P-type ATPases), using the nanodisc technology. Nanodiscs are small, artificial membrane patches, which are held together by a protein belt. Purified ion pumps can be incorporated into nanodiscs in vitro and their function be studied. 

Experience in working with membrane proteins, protein expression in E. coli, protein purification, enzymology, and acquaintance with gene cloning are an advantage. Working-knowledge of English is required. Salaries are negotiable.
