The Institute for Shock Physics at Washington State University has immediate openings for postdoctoral research associates (experimentalists) to examine condensed matter phenomena under dynamic high pressures, using time-resolved (ps-ns resolution) optical spectroscopy and laser-interferometry. The scientific objectives are to relate shock wave induced structural and chemical changes in condensed systems to the underlying microscopic mechanisms. We are looking for creative, self-motivated experimentalists who have the ability and the drive to pursue challenging, interdisciplinary problems in a fast-paced research environment.
