Biological Imaging Scientist : Pittsburgh , PA, United States
University of Pittsburgh Drug Discovery Institute (UPDDI) is searching for a Postdoctoral Biological Imaging Scientist with experience in High Content Imaging for the analysis of 3D cellular models of organs and disease. Projects include: 1) the development of a microfluidic pver model as part of the NCATS Microphysiology Systems program to develop human organ models for drug safety and efficacy testing; 2) an EPA program to apply Organotypic Culture Models to chemical safety assessment; 3) development of a microfluidic model of hepatocarcinoma; 4) development of a metastatic breast cancer model; and 5) general assay development for drug discovery. Expertise in the theory and experimental use of fluorescence microscopy of cellular systems is required. Experience with 3D biological models preferred. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved in a series of high profile collaborations in tissue engineering and drug discovery.
Experience and Training:
• Ph.D in biology, biophysics, biomedical engineering, or related field
• Experience in High Content Screening
• Experience in confocal microscopy of 3D cellular systems
• Experience in automating image analysis
• Experience with ImageJ, CellProfiler, Matlab, or other image analysis software packages
• Experience with Molecular Devices, ThermoFisher and/or GE INCell hardware and software platforms a plus
• Experience with databases and Machine Learning a plus
Position Responsibipties:
• Collaborate with scientists to plan experiments and image cellular models in 2D and 3D
• Estabpsh apppcation specific image analysis pipepnes for routine analysis of experimental data
• Develop new algorithms to extract relevant biological information from images
